Next week, Amsterdam hosts Money2020 Europe, one of the most relevant events in the financial technology industry. From June 3 to 5, people working in payments, compliance, infrastructure, lending, and digital banking will meet at the RAI to exchange insights, showcase new ideas, and explore partnerships.
The Connector will be present throughout the event. We’re not there to exhibit. We’re there to listen, learn, and connect the right people. Whether it’s catching up with companies we work with, introducing new players to the market, or joining the conversations shaping the future of financial services, we’ll be active across the venue.
For those in our network who will be attending, here’s what to expect from the 2025 edition and why it matters.
Four Themes Worth Paying Attention To
This year, Money2020 Europe is organised around four main themes. Each reflects ongoing shifts in the financial industry, areas where regulation, technology, and business models are moving quickly.
1. Digital DNA
Identity is no longer just about logging in. It’s becoming a core part of how people access financial services, from verifying their identity, to building a profile, to securing personalised products. This theme focuses on how firms are adapting their services around identity and trust.
At The Connector, we see this reflected in the companies we support. Whether it’s onboarding platforms, AML tools, or payment providers, almost every solution now starts with identity. It’s one of the most practical and pressing topics this year.
2. Beyond Fintech
This theme looks at how financial services are being offered outside of traditional banking environments. We see this already in retail apps, logistics platforms, and even healthcare. The question is no longer whether this shift is happening, it’s how companies will organise themselves around it.
The Connector works with organisations that are exploring this direction, banks opening up through APIs, SaaS platforms embedding payments, and fintechs building partnerships outside their usual customer base. Money2020 will offer a wide view of how this is playing out.
3. Embedded Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence is moving from discussion to implementation. It’s now being used to assist decision making, prevent fraud, manage data, and improve service quality. This theme focuses on what’s actually being applied and what’s still uncertain.
We are closely following how teams, especially in compliance and operations, are integrating AI in a responsible way. Amsterdam will bring forward examples that are concrete and relevant to both regulated firms and fast-growing fintechs.
4. Governance 2.0
Technology is moving fast, and regulation is trying to keep pace. This theme looks at how the rules are evolving, from data protection to crypto assets to digital operational resilience. It also addresses the role of regulators themselves, and how they engage with innovation.
For the companies we support, this is not a side topic, it’s a central part of market entry and scaling. We expect important updates in this area during Money2020, and we’ll be listening closely to how firms and regulators are approaching the next steps.
Let’s Meet in Amsterdam
Money2020 is always a busy event, but it’s also one of the best places to meet with purpose. If you’re a fintech preparing for growth, an institution scouting new capabilities, or a partner curious to explore the European market, we’re happy to connect.
Koen and Sean from The Connector will be present throughout the event. If you would like to meet us while you’re there, please reach out ahead of time. We’ll do our best to find a quiet corner or join you between sessions.
See You Next Week
We’re looking forward to three focused days in Amsterdam. This event remains one of the clearest markers of what’s shifting in financial services, and who is leading those changes.
See you next week at Money2020 Europe.
